Kamala Harris has chosen Tim Walz to challenge the Donald Trump-JD Vance duo in the US presidential election.
The 60-year-old governor of Minnesota will be the vice-presidential candidate who will accompany the Democratic candidate. Both held their first campaign event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a state that is key to winning the elections every four years.
“This campaign is not just a fight against Trump. It is a fight for the future,” Harris declared. Her running mate lashed out at the Republican, accusing him of being too selfish to serve the country.
“He has no idea about service because he is too busy serving himself,” Walz said, accusing him of sowing “chaos and division” and criticizing his record as president.
“He was paralyzed by the Covid crisis. He brought our economy to ruin. And make no mistake, violent crime increased during his administration,” he added.

US Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has nominated Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate.
“This campaign is not just a fight against Donald Trump. It is a fight for the future,” the Democrat declared at the rally that they led together in a stadium in Philadelphia.
Walz, 60, lashed out at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, accusing him of being too selfish to serve the country.
“Donald Trump sees the world differently. He has no idea about service because he is too busy serving himself,” said the president, who hopes to become the number two in the White House in the elections next November.
Trump sows chaos and division, and that’s not to mention his record as president. He was paralyzed by the Covid crisis. He brought our economy to ruin. And make no mistake, violent crime increased during Donald Trump’s administration.
At the presentation, Harris praised the career of his number two.
“He is a patriot who believes, as I do, in the extraordinary promise of America – a promise of freedom, opportunity and justice, not for some but for all,” Harris said.
She said that her campaign will now be based on defending the freedom to love and to make decisions about one’s body.
“Let’s talk about what the other side is presenting to us. We are witnessing an open attack on freedom. Donald Trump says he wants to punish women, and as a result of his actions,” said the former senator and former prosecutor of California.
In front of hundreds of supporters chanting “We will win,” he said that his running mate is ready to fight against these attacks.
We have a message for Trump and others: we will not back down. We will not back down,” he said.
For the number two in President Joe Biden’s government, Walz is in favor of having
He thinks we need “reasonable gun laws,” he added.
“Our campaign is going to reach out to everyone. Blue states, red states, rural areas, urban areas. Our campaign will be on behalf of all Americans,” he said.
Yesterday morning, Harris posted a video on X to announce her selection for the race against the Republican duo of Trump and Vance.
“It’s the honor of my life,” Walz said.
“So with Tim Walz and with all of you, we will fight for the promise of our future,” Harris said.
