They pretend to be Amazon and through SMS they try to steal credit card numbers, money, passwords and personal data by promising a smartphone as a gift.
This is one of the fraudulent “phishing” messages that are circulating in Trentino these days and that unfortunately manage to make many fish fall into the net.
We are told by a reader who after receiving it, suspicious, wrote directly to Amazon.it to verify the authenticity of the message and thus discovering the scam.
«The SMS message you received – was the reply from Bezos’ company – does not come from Amazon.it. For your protection, I suggest that you do not reply to any message that appears to you to be inauthentic or sent by unknown users, and I urge you not to open links, particularly if you are asked to provide personal data or payment information. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We take this type of report very seriously and we will investigate the case ».
«Messages from Amazon – explains the company – are sent only if you have signed up for the SMS notification service from your account or have chosen to use it for a single shipment. Furthermore, messages from Amazon do not require you to confirm orders, provide personal or payment data ».
