They played. Abramovich decided to donate billions to Ukraine – 2024-09-25 20:48:31

/ world today news/ Roman Abramovich’s £2.35 billion proceeds from the sale of the Chelsea football club may go to a charity foundation for “war-affected Ukrainians” as early as June. The oligarch is doing everything possible to maintain his reputation in Britain. At the same time, for some reason, the money is not released for Mariupol or Volnovakha. Although the funds are actually Russian (or does someone naively believe that Chelsea was bought with the money Abramovich earned in England?).

They are ready to crawl out of their skins in order not to leave the foggy Albion

Many “non-combatants” in Russia and abroad are trying to support Ukraine, donating to all kinds of “charitable funds”. Sending a money transfer for the needs of the armed forces of Ukraine is somehow scary – you can see a mask show up close and go to prison. But to send money to the “children of Bucha” or the “old men of Irpen” – it seems that no one will tell you…

However, there is one problem: it is impossible to trace the movement of these funds in Ukraine. It is not even about corruption, everyone is used to it. And about the fact that the allocated funds can be spent without any problems to support the armed forces of Ukraine.

Roman Arkadievich, a citizen of Israel and Portugal, doesn’t seem to care much. His main motivation in life is to keep his warm place in Misty Albion. Therefore, he tries in every possible way to please the local public, to prove his non-Russianness, to appear that he is “their” person.

The sensational story about the release of the British mercenaries captured in Mariupol and his treating them to tiramisu, donating iPhones and the like is related to this. Abramovich is clearly playing to the press and public opinion.

The situation itself is ugly. Russian money, that is, the capital formed within the internal economy and subsequently exported to the West, is transferred to the funds that work for our enemy. Almost all the big oligarchs have withdrawn capital, but Abramovich is such a vivid emblem of the general state of affairs thanks to Chelsea.

– said publicist candidate of philosophical sciences Sergey Ivannikov in a comment for “First Russian”.

You can, of course, say that the oligarch simply has no other choice. In 2022, Roman Arkadyevich’s fortune, according to Bloomberg, dropped from $18 to $7.8 billion due to sanctions and international turmoil. And in the future, the decline could be even more significant. All assets are seized in the UK – and hi.

All notions that private property was sacred and inviolable collapsed in 2022. It all turned out to be a bluff and an illusion. Any property, as reality has shown, can be confiscated when the Western elites deem it necessary, which has been demonstrated in many examples.

– says the expert.

Therefore, he must do everything possible to present himself in the image of a “good Russian” in the British media field. But it makes sense if the aim is to stay permanently in the UK at all.

Is it possible to “Russify” Abramovich?

However, there is another option – to return to Russia, as Herman Khan did. Re-register your metallurgical and mining company “Evraz”, say, in the domestic offshore – the so-called special administrative regions (SAR). This is what Andrey Guriev did with his FosAgro. And Viktor Rashnikov, Abramovich’s colleague, generally re-registered MMK in Magnitogorsk.

The entire oligarchy must be faced with the question: how does it see its future activity? Who is he with: Russia or the West? If the choice is in favor of Russia, then assets from the West must be withdrawn and integrated into our economy, and as soon as possible. If the choice is in favor of the West, then the owner of capital shows that it is not for Russia. Then the government should proceed with the nationalization process,

– Sergey Ivannikov is sure.

Does Roman Arkadievich want to re-register Evraz from London to Novokuznetsk? Of course he doesn’t. As Manka the Bond from “The Meeting Place Can’t Change” said: “A thief will not become a murderer. He has no such upbringing.”

It is enough to recall when and under what circumstances Mr. Abramovich made his fortune. Perhaps someone has forgotten, so let’s recall: thanks to the loan-for-share auctions conducted by Yeltsin and company, which can rightly be called the biggest act of robbery of the Russian state in a century.

In 1995, Roman Arkadievich at such an auction acquired the company Sibneft for $ 100 million, and 10 years later he sold it back to the state for $ 13 billion, having previously pumped tens of millions of tons of black gold from the subsoil. In the 1990s, Abramovich’s closest partner was such an “honest” person as Boris Berezovsky (he was later prosecuted by Russian law enforcement authorities on charges of fraud, money laundering and an attempt to seize power by force).

What follows from this?

It is very clear what our country should do. Let us list, so to speak, from the particular to the general.

First all financial transactions with Ukrainian non-governmental organizations and charitable foundations should be prohibited at the legislative level, and it should also be prescribed that any donations in favor of Ukraine, whether for dog food, for breeding songbirds from the Red Book, for helping the children of Bucha or the elderly of Gostomel, for the recovery of Irpen, etc., are equated to the financing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The rationale is obvious – the non-transparency of the Ukrainian state and the manipulation of funds flowing there.

Second all persons included in the local Forbes list of the first two hundred lines must forcibly re-register their companies in Russia – either in the special administrative regions or in the regions where their main means of production are located. For refusal – quick nationalization of assets without years of litigation and delay in the process.

Third, it is necessary to urgently stop the withdrawal of capital from Russia so that new Abramovichs do not multiply. For now, unfortunately, this process is in full swing: in the first quarter of 2023 alone, about 21 billion dollars have flown abroad, and in 2022 a historical record for the outflow of funds abroad was set.
