SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, SLP., December 23 (EL UNIVERSAL).- In early 2023, San Luis Potosí will have new vaccines against Covid-19 to strengthen the vaccination schemes of the Potosinos, as batches of Abdala are expected to arrive vaccines, a drug originating in Cuba, according to information from state health services.
Daniel Acosta Díaz de León, head of the agency, announced that the date of arrival of the doses to complete and strengthen the vaccination schemes for citizens has not been defined; However, he specified that Abdala will be applied in three doses for short periods of time, in order to protect the population of Potosi from the various variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
He specified that although those of the state’s inhabitants have been vaccinated with the drug Pfizer, the improvement of this vaccine is not available in Mexico, so both the federal government and the Roadrunner Brigade of the Mexican Social Insurance Institute (IMSS) have acquired Abdala and they will be the ones to define the way this new drug will be applied against Covid-19.
In addition, Daniel Acosta recalled that the vaccination days for the first and second doses and reinforcements with the biological Sinovac are still open, as well as the application of doses against the flu, so that the people of Potosi can strengthen the own immune system in this winter season and avoid serious forms of respiratory diseases.
“The main way to prevent is with the measures that we have learned in almost three years: healthy distance, use of masks, hand washing, use of antibacterial gel, avoid large concentrations and the other thing is that we are aware that when we are faced with a sick person, we have to be very careful about wearing masks,” the official recommended.
