A group of three galaxies has been captured by a joint spacecraft from NASA and the European Space Agency, the Hubble Space Telescope. On the NASA side. NGC 7764A1, NGC 7764A2, and NGC 7764A3 are collectively referred to as NGC 7764A, a cluster about 425 million light-years from us in the constellation Phoenix.
The most exciting element of the shot is the two galaxies shown at the top right.
It is not known whether the galaxy on the left will affect the two systems, but because of the proximity, this is conceivable.
While the photo seems very moving, the interaction of the systems is actually a rather slow process. Frontal collisions of galaxies are distinctly rare in the universe.
Since its launch in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has taken countless spectacular recordings and has contributed greatly to a better understanding of the universe. The successor to the spacecraft, the James Webb space telescope, ended late last year was launched.
