They pay taxes back with checks signed by Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse in the U.S.

The Rhode Island government mistakenly sent 176 refund checks signed by the late entertainer and the most famous creature in his empire.

On July 27, US tax authorities in Rhode Island mistakenly sent tax refund checks with the signatures of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, instead of Seth Magaziner and Peter Keenan, Treasurer and Comptroller of that state respectively.

According to Jade Borgeson, chief of staff for the state Department of Revenue, the error occurred due to a technical problem. The service continues to contact affected taxpayers to remedy the failure and “apologizes for any inconvenience that it may have caused,” he said, quoted on CNN.

Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse are the names they use on checks for testing and the like, but have been mistakenly printed on official checks intended for taxpayers. Checks corrected and signed by Magaziner and Keenan will be issued within one week.
