In a letter he wrote to the Turkish Red Crescent General Directorate of the Başkentgaz company, Ünal Demirtaş pointed out that he officially announced that he sent the aid money to the Ensar Foundation on 27 December 2017 and said, “It is a coincidence that, after the company made this donation, Başkentgaz wanted much a regulation is published. The regulation published by the Energy Market Regulatory Board (EMRA) paves the way for the collection of natural gas hikes retrospectively from the public. It is also a coincidence that, thanks to this regulation, Başkentgaz, which owns 95 percent of subscribers with card counters, sends invoices to hundreds of thousands of subscribers with a backward raise and collects millions of lira from the public. ”
Demirtaş made the following statement to SÖZCÜ: “Başkentgaz was very uncomfortable with the subscribers using a card counter in the summer months. Because, since the gas was previously loaded on the cards, the hikes after the loading could not be reflected to these subscribers. The company has worked hard to reflect subsequent hikes to more than 650,000 card natural gas subscribers. However, since the legal basis was not found, the demand of the company could not be met. So, at the end, the company must have said, ‘You donate to Ensar, and we will fulfill your request’, after the donation entered the safe, an unlawful regulation was issued. Thanks to that regulation, Başkentgaz sent an invoice to the hundreds of thousands of subscribers who loaded gas on their cards before the total 32 percent hike in July and August last year and asked for the difference in the hike. In other words, the money of the aid sent to Ensar, who was mentioned with child abuse, was collected from the people of Ankara in the middle of winter. This persecution made to the poor people who live in the cold in his house, because he cannot afford expensive gas, does not fit in conscience. ”
THAT’S THE REGULATION
The Regulation on the Amendment to the Natural Gas Market Distribution and Customer Service Regulation, which paved the way for the subsequent receipt of a raise invoice to natural gas subscribers, was published in the Official Gazette on Sunday, July 29, 2018. With the regulation, the loading of natural gas in cubic meters on the prepaid cards was terminated, instead, the ‘TL loading’ system was implemented. Therefore, since the cards can no longer be loaded with gas, all subsequent hikes started to be reflected to the public. Lawsuits filed by many individuals and institutions, including Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, continue for the cancellation of the regulation.
