Investigators from the city’s Department of Buildings issue an evacuation order for the residential building in Harlem that was affected by a fire this past Friday.
As indicated in a statement, the Red Cross has offered emergency evacuation services to all the residents of the building, which is estimated at more than one hundred.
The flames started shortly before three in the afternoon in the building located on West 145th Street between Amsterdam and Broadway avenues.
The fire started on the second floor and quickly spread to the top floor of the six-story building.
According to the Department of Buildings, the flames compromised the roof of the structure, causing it to partially collapse.
Nine people, including four firefighters, were injured during the incident.
The Fire Department is now trying to establish the cause of the fire.
