A Bulgarian cultural institute will be opened in London in 2010, it became clear at today’s meeting of the Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov with the British Ambassador to Bulgaria Steve Williams.
During the talks, both expressed satisfaction with the positive development of bilateral cultural relations.
Minister Rashidov emphasized that getting to know and rapprochement of the two peoples is one of the most important prerequisites for the positive development of bilateral relations. He expressed hope that with the help of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute and the British public, he will have the opportunity to get to know the ancient and modern Bulgarian culture.
Ambassador Williams congratulated the Minister on his appointment to this responsible position, as well as on the selection of Irina Bokova for the position of Director General of UNESCO. He presented the rich program of the British Council in Bulgaria and the active activity in the field of culture.
For his part, Minister Vezhdi Rashidov thanked for the consistent support provided by British experts in the process of forming Bulgaria’s cultural policy during the period of our country’s accession to the European Union and for the active and diverse cooperation between Bulgarian and British cultural institutions.
