One of the lunar craters will now be named Michael Joseph Jackson. The decision to register the new name of the crater was made by an expert committee of the “Lunar Republic” organization a day before the funeral ceremony in memory of the king of pop music, “KontaktMusic” reported.
Until now, the crater was called “Posidonius J” in honor of the ancient Greek philosopher, astronomer and geographer Posidonius.
Experts from “Lunar Republic” explain that they named the crater with the full name of Jacko, so as not to be confused with the name of another crater “Jackson”, named after the Scottish astronomer John Jackson.
