By chance in life, a woman became friends with a man she met on Facebook, without imagining that, shortly after, she would end up married to him.
Despite her family’s denial, Shalonda Trent took a flight to Dubai, where he would meet Precious Ubaka Spik.
“I had already checked my four bags and my brother was ruining my mood. We argued for a while and I hung up. No one was going to stop me from going, not my family, not my friends, not even my pastor.”said the woman in a story published by the portal Insider.
Little did he care that he had not seen himself or the opinion of others. Shalonda packed her bags and left her country.
“We didn’t care that we hadn’t seen each other in real life. He proposed to me in April 2021, a month after we started DMing each other. We were in love”he remembered.
They made their wedding preparations by WhatsApp
According to the woman’s testimony, Spik would have told her that he was in love from the day they became friends on the Internet. However, she asked him to make a video call to confirm that everything was true.
“We did a video chat two weeks later. It was important to me to make sure it was real. There are many scams out there. But he was who he said he was. He was pretty. It felt safe to talk to him.”he assured.
A week later, They planned their wedding on WhatsApp and they agreed that since she lives in the United States and he lives in Kazakhstan, Dubai would be the ideal place to have their honeymoon.
A few days after they met, they got married twice in Nigeria and currently live in Kazakhstan and have a daughter.
“We had the two ceremonies, one after the other, on December 9, 2021. Just once, in a fleeting moment, I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, are you really doing this?’ and ‘if this is a mistake, you have to live with it’. But I had faith. I knew Precious was a decent and loving man.”the woman indicated.
Despite the refusal of his acquaintances, now several of them recognize that Trent lives a very happy stage with his new family. “You have to take risks in life to get where you want to be”he concluded.
