they march to say “stop the suffering” in the hospital

Relatives, acquaintances, anonymous people… Two hundred people participated, on Saturday September 28 in Châtellerault, in the white march organized by the family of Élise Michel, a radio technician at the hospital, found dead in her attic on August 1, a month later his disappearance.

“I lost my sister in November 2022”

Shunned by the territory’s political decision-makers, the procession silently reached the city hospital. Where Élise worked until her « burn-out » in November 2022, which led her into a deep depression.

The mother and four brothers and sister of the deceased unfurled a banner in the name of the La Lettre à Élise association that they created: “All together against suffering at work. »

Because today, it is not only a tribute to Élise, as her mother reminds us, with tears in her eyes at the microphone: “We want this sad event to raise awareness of the suffering caused by an organization of work that no longer leaves room for humanity. »

The CHU in the viewfinder

If the investigation into the death of the forty-year-old has not been closed, relatives are already convinced that it was a suicide and that her employer, the Poitiers University Hospital, bears great responsibility for her descent into hell. with a fatal outcome.

“I lost my sister, not on August 1, 2024, but well before, in November 2022”expresses his brother Rémi, co-president of the collective.

Without waiting for probable legal action to request a “moral reparation”the family does not spare the Vienne hospital. Who, himself, warned, three days earlier: “If he is called into question, he will rely on justice to shed light on the responsibilities for this tragedy. »

This morning, Marc came with his wife. “We participated in the research. We don’t know them, but we are very touched by what they are going through. »

“So sad”

“It’s our place, we must stand in solidarity with them, expresses Dominique, a resident of Coussay-les-Bois who knows the family. It’s sad to come to this, it’s time to take charge of the problem of suffering! »

This nursing assistant from the CHU, on condition of anonymity, is “so sad” for his colleague, “victim among others of the state of the public hospital”. With a lump in her throat, she won’t say any more.

On arrival, in front of the Camille-Guérin emergency room, several people take the microphone. CGT of the CHU, hospital defense committee, brother of Élise, anonymous… All are demanding “another policy for the public hospital” and want to say to “all those who suffer, caregivers, police officers, teachers, public service workers” that they “are not alone”.

“If we are united, I have one hope: that there will never be an Elise again,” concludes Rémi Michel, inviting people to join the ranks of the association.
