Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), which produces batteries for Tesla and Volkswagen electric cars, has developed a battery with a life span of 16 years and capable of withstanding up to 1.24 million miles (2 million km) Bloomberg reports.
CATL President Zeng Yuqun said Monday in an interview at the company’s headquarters in Ningde, southeast China, that the company is ready to sell this new battery to any automaker. “If someone places an order, we are ready to produce,” said Zeng.

The estimated cost is one 10% more of what is currently paid for batteries, which are used in electric cars and cover approximately 150,000 miles (241,400 kilometers) and have an approximate useful life of 8 years.
In February, CATL signed a two-year contract to supply batteries for the American company Tesla, led by Elon Musk.
For its part, Tesla indicated on May 16 that it is preparing a set of revolutionary batteries cheaper and with a duration of around 1.6 million kilometers for your Model 3 sedan vehicle.
