Infectologists and journalists began this Monday, after the death of journalist Mauro Viale by coronavirus, a campaign through social networks to ask that a mask be worn on television programs, something that the conductors of the first edition of the Public Television news program began to do early on. This was explained early by Rosario Lufrano, president of Radio y Televisión Argentina Sociedad del Estado, on her Twitter account.

“Today from RTA we decided that the workers of National Radio and Public TV, use the chinstrap at all times as a way to reinforce care and also raise awareness that we must be careful to avoid contagion,” said Lufrano.
In the same way, Omar Sued, president of the Argentine Society of Infectology (SADI), wrote on his Twitter account, shortly after Viale’s death was known. “It is time to start considering TV show hosting as a risky profession. Please start wearing a chinstrap if the programs are not outdoors. ”
The message was reproduced by the journalists Ingrid Beck and Florencia Etcheves, who added the hashtag #barbijosenlatv to identify the campaign.
Immediately, the messages began to multiply on social networks where different videos of Chilean and Paraguayan news programs appeared with their drivers wearing face masks.
“Chinstraps, distance, ventilation. Care measures apply to everyone. Also for those who work in television and radio. For leaders,” said Beck.
The initiative already began to get underway from Monday morning, when journalists Silvia Fernández and Alejandro Puertas, hosts of the Public Television newscast, began the broadcast with masks on and explaining the reason for the decision.
“The workers of the Public Television decided to use the chinstrap at all times”Alejandro Puertas, who hosts the newscast with Silvia Fernández, announced at seven in the morning.
Two hours later, Nicolás Artusi and Paloma Bokser, hosts of IP Noticias, joined the initiative that already has a hashtag on the networks: #barbijosenlatv.
In his Twitter account, Bokser explained the decision: “At @_IPNoticias we join #BarbijosEnLaTV to take care of ourselves and lead by example. Chinstrap, distance, ventilation, hand washing and isolation is what we need to stay alive.”

Almost at the same time, from his Twitter account, Rodolfo Barilli, host of the Telefé newscast, confirmed that he joined the list of television figures infected with coronavirus.
“We all know that, despite taking care of ourselves, it can happen to us. And it happened to me. Swabbing through, after isolating myself for being close contact of a confirmed case, the result of my test says detectable COVID. It touched. Take care. Take care of yourselves a lot. I hope get through it well, “Barilli wrote.
Another of the first to accept the proposal was the journalist Nicolás Magaldi, host of The Problem Show on Channel 9, who assured that from today afternoon he will be on the air wearing face masks.
“The situation is worrying. As of tomorrow (for today) they will see me driving with my mask in the air. The way we do TV does not change; the way we take care of ourselves changes. More care and more examples. I invite everyone s my colleagues to do the same, “said the journalist.
