Eranuhi Pehlivanyan, owner of a chain of pharmacies in Ruse and wife of the head of the GERB group Bedros Pehlivanyan in the city’s municipal council, was killed and dismembered by two bandits. They stole BGN 30,000 from her, after which they got rid of the remains by throwing them into the gorge of the Rusenski Lom river.
The heinous crime happened last week. The woman went missing on Friday and relatives have declared her wanted. Police initially investigated the abduction. However, the criminalists from the OD of the Ministry of Interior – Ruse and their colleagues from the General Directorate “National Police” quickly realized that it was a murder.
On Monday night, they detained the two men, who made confessions. They are old acquaintances of the police. Some of the money was found.
The two were detained for 24 hours, and the prosecutor’s office is expected to charge them.
Pehlivanyan and his wife run a large chain of pharmacies in Ruse. In 2019, they had 67 employees, BGN 50,000 in capital and BGN 10.3 million in turnover of the managed companies, which had profits of BGN 116,000, according to the data on the website yox.bg.
According to Pehlivanyan’s latest statement to KPKONPI, the family has 6 companies. Cars are not listed, nor real estate. In 2016, however, he and his wife Evanuhi announced 3 BMW cars for a total of BGN 301,600. The two declare a total of 8 deposits in BGN and EUR for over 540,000 BGN, most of which are in the woman’s name. The advisor indicated BGN 13,000 as available savings. The family owns 13 properties, mainly in Ruse, which they own in whole or in part, most of which were acquired back in time and are also of considerable value – BGN 277,729. The spouses declared shares in Alliance Service EAD, where the advisor was a member of the board of directors at the time.
