Once they committed the crime, the strangers left calmly on foot and upon reaching an informal border crossing that is about 200 meters from there, they headed towards Venezuela, as if nothing had happened.

Between rage and frustration, relatives of the victim assured that for years they have been threatened by various criminals for having the supermarket, but they never imagined that an act as unfortunate as the murder of Jeferson Alfredo would take place.

“Five years ago we had this business with him (Jeferson Ríos), who worked as an administrator. They had already demanded that ‘vaccine’ from us, but we have never paid for it, nor have we thought about it, that money only gives the criminals more control and power, and that is why they came here and shot him,” said a relative of the victim.

In the midst of pain, relatives of Ríos Calderón recalled that in February several armed men arrived at the supermarket and shot indiscriminately at the victim and her brother who were talking in front of the store.
