The “DAKF Always in the Heart” association calls on society to donate new toys to boys and girls who were left homeless due to feminicide, or who also live in contexts of violence.
The intention is that they can receive a gift next Christmas, a date on which an effort is also made to organize a celebration supported by the Women’s Empowerment Alliance association in La Laguna.
Imelda Martínez, president of the “DAKF Always in the Heart” association, shared that they have been trying for four years to ensure that boys and girls who lost their mothers due to feminicide, or who live in complex contexts, receive a present in a festival that calls to share what Christmas is like
“When we do well we manage to support up to 30 or 40 children, luckily last year we reached the goal, although we were missing boys and girls who live in a vulnerable situation.”
Imelda recalled that the first year they started with this collection they did not have the response they expected, but, she says, thanks to the fact that more benefactors have joined year after year, they trust that in 2024 they will be able to receive more toys, which she detailed, they have to be new and far from the concept of violence. The ages of those who receive the presents range between 3 and 18 years old.
“We make a careful call to society to look again at this cause, that although there are other associations dedicated to other objectives, this is one of the most important that we have in La Laguna, since we assist the orphans of feminicide, forced disappearance, or who live in vulnerable contexts. Here the importance is to do our bit so that they have a nice Christmas.”
