Mexicali.- To protect the health of the population and particularly vulnerable groups in the face of this winter season, the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, reiterates the appeal to the population to apply the flu vaccine and protect their health, since the doses are available free of charge in the units of the Secretariat of State for Health.
The state chief executive reported that so far the state health sector has applied nearly 600,000 doses, of which approximately 200 ml correspond to the Ministry of Health led by J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, 366,000 to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) , four thousand to the IMSS Bienestar and 31 thousand to the ISSSTE.
The president of the state said that, in the period of the year when temperatures drop, there is an increase in cases due to the semi-annual behavior of the flu, for this reason vaccination is a very valuable tool to counteract the complications of the disease . He added that health personnel are strengthening promotional activities so that the population takes care of themselves and promotes the well-being of their loved ones at all times.
For his part, Medina Amarillas, stressed that it is important that susceptible groups such as pregnant women, girls and boys from zero to five years, adults over 60, with immunosuppression problems: diabetes mellitus, HIV, cancer, renal insufficiency ; with respiratory diseases: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, apply biological.

He recommended that in order to prevent respiratory infections, the following preventive measures should be followed: wash hands constantly, do not kiss or shake hands with sick people, do not share food or drink, wash doorknobs constantly, do not go to school, or work to avoid infecting more people.
