HOUSTON, Texas – Researchers will examine the design of the guardrails and the crowd control application to determine what caused the tragedy in which eight people were killed and hundreds more injured at a music festival in Houston.
Authorities planned to use video footage, witness interviews and a review of event staging procedures to figure out what went wrong Friday night at rapper Travis Scott’s concert. The tragedy occurred when the crowd rushed onto the stage, squeezing people so tightly that they couldn’t breathe.
Billy Nasser, 24, traveled from Indianapolis to attend the festival. About 15 minutes after Scott’s show started, he noted, things “got really crazy” and attendees started crushing each other. He indicated that he “was picking up people” and trying to get them out.
Flowers, candles, condolence notes, and T-shirts were placed outside of NRG Park over the weekend.
Thirteen people remained hospitalized. His state of health was not disclosed.
