They are introducing military training for 10th and 11th grade students from the next academic year. This foresees a draft of a new regulation on the training of Bulgarian citizens for the defense of the fatherland, published on the website of the Council of Ministers, in the portal for public consultations. The regulation stipulates that students acquire military skills during class time. They will have 5 study hours in 10th grade and 5 study hours in 11th grade. Classes on military affairs will begin on December 1 and continue until the end of the school year.
The training will be divided into two stages. Students in the 10th grade will acquire skills such as acquiring knowledge for the defense of the homeland, providing assistance to the population in crises of a military nature, surviving the discovery of military munitions, etc. The students of the 11th grade will learn the history of the country’s armed forces, the participation of the Republic of Bulgaria in missions and operations outside the territory of the country, the types of equipment of the servicemen in the different types of armed forces, etc.
The regulation states that the classes will be conducted by military personnel or civilian representatives of the Ministry of Defense in the presence of the class teacher, reports “Focus”.
By July 15 of the respective year, the principals of the secondary schools will have to send a report with data to the relevant structures of the Central Military District about how many classes of 10 and 11 classes will be held in the respective classes on military affairs.
