They impersonate a lawyer to scam families who need oxygen VIDEO

On that occasion, all his belongings were taken, including the wallet that carried all his documents. For this reason, he made the corresponding complaint to “avoid any inconvenience that may arise.” Sadly, after six years, he found out that his National identity document (DNI) was used to cheat a families seeking medical oxygen in the midst of a pandemic.

The young man could not believe that after so long he was being a victim of crime, so he decided to investigate social networks, where he found at least five Facebook profiles with his name. Everyone used their photos and offered everything from the sale of oxygen bottles by delivery to raffles for trucks. Again, he had to go to the authorities, but now as victim of identity theft.

On January 29, 2021, after tracking down a series of scams on his own, he appeared with all his evidence at the Chorrillos police station to formalize his complaint for computer crimes against public faith and identity theft.

Scammers also spoof corporate identities

The scammers, in addition to using the identity of Gerardo Sarmiento Juárez to carry out scams, also impersonated the transnational Praxair by creating false accounts on social networks. This company, after being consulted about the complaints that exist against it, affirmed that they have been usurping their corporate identity to deceive people, for which they issued a statement.
