Miami-Dade County authorities identified the two people who lost their lives during the spectacular traffic accident that occurred on the night of Tuesday, April 23 in the city of Hialeahpointing out that these belonged to the same Cuban family.
According to local media America TeVéthe deceased were identified as Yarina García Hernández, 39, and her aunt, Gloria Esther Hernández, 71.
Additionally, it was learned that citizen Liliana Hernández Molina, Yarina’s mother, 65 years old, had to be hospitalized at Jackson Memorial Hospital after the incident.
The three women were traveling aboard the same car when they were hit by a van that had three minors inside, one 14 and two 15 years old.
The investigation revealed that the 14-year-old was driving the vehicle without a license after taking his parents’ truck without permission.
The accident occurred just a few meters from their home, so their parents heard the roar of the vehicles colliding. When they left, they were surprised to find that their truck and her son were involved in the incident.
“I just took it, the keys were there and I just took it,” said the minor when questioned by Local 10 News, also confirming the fact that he did not have a driver’s license.
According to area residents, the accident was too dramatic, and the airbags in both vehicles made it difficult to see the people inside.
“It was just before dark; We heard like a big explosion. I called 911 right away, literally before I checked the car because it looked so bad. You couldn’t even see the people with all the airbags that had burst in both cars,” declared a neighbor identified as Ricardo Redondo.
At the moment, the causes of the crash remain under investigation, but there is a security video captured by a camera from a nearby location that could be decisive in solving this mystery. Residents point out that this intersection is very dangerous, and that many drivers often accidentally run the stop sign there.
For now, the minor is free while awaiting new results of the investigation.
