An old violin found in an attic has turned out to be a masterpiece by Giuseppe Guarneri, the greatest exponent of this mythical family of luthiers from the 18th century, a piece of great value identified with a WhatsApp photograph and the analysis of its wood.
Mauro Bernabei, an expert from the Bioeconomy Institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), received the photograph on his phone and determined the authenticity of the instrument, manufactured by that famous house of luthiers.
