The teenager who died early on Thanksgiving Day outside a bar in Manhattan He was identified as Rocco Rodden.
The minor, 17 years old, was a student at St. Joseph Regional High School and was part of his American football team.
The school posted a message on its social networks regretting the tragedy.
“It is with deep sadness and great regret that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our own, Rocco Rodden.”
“Rocco, a junior at SJR, left us in the early hours of Thanksgiving morning. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.”
The young man and his 19-year-old brother were stabbed during a fight last Thursday at 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Lafayette and White.
Rodden received a wound to the torso and was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he died.
His brother was admitted to the same hospital.
Authorities reported yesterday that Gianluca Bordone was arrested as a suspect in the murder.
The 19-year-old man will be charged with involuntary manslaughter and another charge of assault.
