GARCIA SALINAS SHERRY. The chess tournament, held this Saturday in Jerez, brought together more than 30 competitors from Zacatecas, Guadalupe, Morelos, Juchipila, Jalpa, Jerez and even a small competitor with Jerez roots from Phoenix, Arizona. The event organized by the Black Horse Club had the support of the Municipal Sports Coordination.
On behalf of Mayor José Humberto Salazar Contreras, Vidal Poblano Aguilar welcomed the state tournament, which took place in the Foyer of the Hinojosa Theater.
Giving the general instructions and the starting call to start the clocks, the international judge Tizoc Haro Covarrubias informed that it was determined that the competition will be carried out using the Swiss system, with a rhythm of 20 seconds and in five rounds.
The fair was divided into three categories: the free, for those who exceed 1,300 ranking points, in which 20 competitors were registered; amateurs, for scores less than 1,300 with 10 registered players; and children’s, with the participation of four minors. The participants aspire to cash prizes with a bag of 6 thousand pesos to distribute.
The Municipal Sports Coordination has plans to include the discipline of chess in the usual summer courses, to motivate the integration of the new generations to the so-called science sport and seek to make them present in future events, this in coordination with the Horse club Black.
