They help those who lost their jobs in Charlotte by Helene

Charlotte.-If you were left without work due to the effects of Hurricane Helene in Charlotte, you can apply for financial help.

This is Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) provided by the Employment Security Division (DES) of the federal government in cases of natural disasters and which affected employees in Charlotte may receive.

The program covers all of Mecklenburg County and 26 other counties in the state impacted by the hurricane. To request this support it is necessary to have legal status in the country and a social security number.

The federal authority announced that both employees and business owners and people who are self-employed and no longer have a source of income due to the impact of the hurricane will receive this financial aid.

DUA is a federal government program and you can only obtain it if you have already applied for unemployment support in the state and they did not give it to you or you are not eligible to receive it.

The benefit is for each week of paid work you lost starting the week of September 29, 2024 and can last up to 26 weeks, that is, until March 29, 2025.

The deadline to request this support is December 9.
