Everything seems to indicate that people are indifferent to the child who throws his jellies in the streetbecause they discovered that it is a scam.

A few weeks ago, people walking in CDMX and other cities showed solidarity when they saw the fall of a minor who was supposedly selling desserts on the street, but some realized that he did the same thing several times on the same avenues and They warned that it was a hoax.

The situation went viral and several people exhibited the modus operandi that they taught the minor: pretending to fall, throwing the jellies and causing others to give him money, an action that he repeated several times a day.

Through TikTok, some people captured a child sitting on the floor next to the semi-melted jellies, you could also see his bucket, many adults passed by him without bending down to help and of course, no one offered him any coins anymore.

The current situation is a consequence of the scam going viral, which is why it unleashed all kinds of reactions: some feel happy because no one will fall for the deception and others worried about the child, since he continues to be forced to ask for money on the streets. .

Some people commented that perhaps the adults who send him every day to “scam” people will soon find another strategy, but they are not really taking care of their human rights. So far it is unknown if any authority or the DIF plans to carry out any intervention to approach the child and rescue him from his current situation.

These are some opinions that the video sparked: “He is still on the street but no one gives him anything anymore, but what about his parents?” He is not to blame”, “That happens when you abuse people’s kindness”.

Child labor not only represents a statistic, but reflects lives and potential cut short by complex social, economic and cultural circumstances. The situation is alarming, since these minors are forced to work in conditions that can affect their physical and emotional development.

The National Child Labor Survey (ENTI) 2022carried out in collaboration with the International Labor Organization and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS)revealed that 3.7 million minors were involved in some form of child labor during that year.

The figures show an increase in the rate of child labor, which went from 11% in 2017 to 13.1% in 2022, which indicates a setback in efforts to eradicate this problem. This increase occurs despite the campaigns and policies implemented to combat child labor, suggesting the existence of structural and systemic challenges that make its elimination difficult.
