In a revelation that seems unbelievable, the Star made about the tragedy in Tempe.
As reported in the station’s main news bulletin, almost two years after the train accident, the judicial authorities sought the videos showing the loading of the commercial train in Thessaloniki, to investigate the complaints about the illegal flammable cargo, which according to the expert of the victims’ relatives, caused the death of many passengers who were engulfed in flames.
Now it is revealed that the officials gave the wrong video to the authorities and so it was not visible what the commercial train loaded just before it started!
Thus, the investigator requested on Monday the seizure of the correct discs as well, with the recovery of their contents now considered impossible as the discs are rewritable.
At the moment the question is for the technicians to recover the video from the moment of loading and thus solve the mystery of the commercial.
But, as the Star reveals, even if they succeeded they would see the commercial train at a point unrelated to the one of interest. In other words, instead of the loading station in Thessaloniki, they would see the passenger station, which is a couple of kilometers away.
“The excuses we’ve been hearing since morning are infuriating,” noted journalist Aris Lambos.
“Ball” the responsibilities
OSE throws the “ball” at the company that manages the cameras, that they gave the wrong material. The authorities “play with words”, that the prosecutor had asked them for a video from the Thessaloniki railway station and did not specifically tell them the loading station. So all this time the investigation is in limbo and obviously there is a risk that the real documents will be lost.
As noted by Mara Zacharea, the relatives of the victims emphasize that it is very important to find what the train was loaded with because the fire that was caused may have originated from this material.
Meanwhile, the government is being criticized for a cover-up by the opposition.
Stefanos Kasselakis commented with his post that the healthy political system has a duty to the victims and their families to let the truth shine, while PASOK MPs are indirectly asking for the intervention of the Supreme Court’s prosecution for the concealment, as they say, of this very crucial optical material.
