“They gave me the Chinese vaccine”, a young man in Argentina breaks into tears after being vaccinated against Covid-19

A user of Tik Tok recorded the moment in which a young woman cries inconsolably after receiving the coronavirus vaccine on Argentina. The video quickly went viral and garnered more than two million views on the social network.

It was @nachitoomaceira who uploaded the images to her profile in which the woman is seen calling her grandmother on the phone while crying for having been inoculated with the Sinopharm. “When they put the china and not the AstraZeneca”, Said the user in the epigraph of his publication.

“They gave me the Chinese vaccine, the worst of all and now it hurts me, I can’t move my arm,” says the protagonist of the video. As can be deduced from the conversation, his grandmother, on the other end of the phone, takes it as a joke: “Don’t laugh, grandma.”

The clip had an immediate impact, so the young woman decided to comment on the post with humor: “How difficult it is to be me.” A phrase popularized by the character of Mía Colucci in the Rebelde Way series, played by Luisana Lopilato.

The effectiveness of the Sinopharm vaccine

The Ministry of Health of the Nation released a study carried out during six months in the country with older adults to evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccines that are applied in Argentina, both with one and two doses. According to sources from the portfolio led by Carla Vizzotti, the sample included 700,000 adults over 60 years of age from the 23 provinces and the city of Buenos Aires, between January 1 and June 22.

As a result, Sinopharm was shown to be 61.6% effective with one dose and 84% with two. The World Health Organization (WHO) validated the “safety, efficacy and quality” of the vaccine of Chinese origin in early May and approved its emergency use in the context of the pandemic.
