Florin Zalomir, a former member of the Romanian fencing team that won the London Olympics in 2012, was found dead Monday morning in his apartment and, according to preliminary information, committed suicide by shooting himself.

Florin Zalomir was also heard by the Romanian police, as he worked as a former police officer after his retirement.

In 2012 Florin Zalomir retired from Dinamo Bucharest, as well as coach of the national team. He has worked as a contract soldier in the French foreign service for over 2 years and has been deployed in Afghanistan, among others.
