Turkish special services have defused a bomb that could have exploded in the city of Siirt, where a rally involving President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place, said Hamza Doug, deputy chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party.
“The explosive device was placed under the car of a police officer working in Mardin. The plan was to blow it up when Erdogan arrived in Siirt. They wanted to ruin the rally. “There are those who are trying to destroy the peaceful environment,” the politician was quoted as saying by CNN Turk.
Police found the bomb while inspecting the car. The sappers destroyed the explosive device. The search for suspects has begun.
