The dismembered body of a 33-year-old tech businessman was found in his luxurious apartment in Manhattan, police said Wednesday. Officers also found an electric saw at the scene.
The victim, identified as Fahim Saleh, was found around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday inside his seventh-floor apartment in a building on the Lower East Side. There have been no arrests.
A relative called the authorities after discovering the body. The policemen who attended found a torso, head and arm bags, and the electric saw in the room.
Investigators also recovered a security video showing Saleh exiting the elevator on Tuesday afternoon closely followed by someone dressed in black, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the case. It also shows a struggle between the two at the entrance to the apartment, said the official, who asked to preserve anonymity.
Saleh was the CEO of a recently created motorcycle delivery company called Gokada, which started operating in Nigeria in 2018.
The company confirmed the death on Twitter on Wednesday and said: “Fahim was a great leader, an inspiration and a positive light for all of us.”
Investigators are investigating whether the murder could be related to Saleh’s business. They also examine a security video of the entire neighborhood to try to determine where the attacker fled.
