Residents of the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo, in the province of Holguín, reported having found a young man dead in a river in the town, who had presumably been murdered.
According to independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the deceased young man was identified as Kevin Luis, and was found dead on the morning of Sunday, April 21.
According to the photographs shared by the communicator, the body was floating in the La Margarita River, in an area that was converted into a landfill.
“The precise details of the unfortunate event are still unknown (…) Many people have confirmed to me that he was possibly murdered,” Mayeta Labrada indicated in her publication.
The information shared online indicates that the young man lived with his family on Hugo Argüelles Street, in Bazán, in the Primero de Mayo neighborhood, and that he was the father of a small child.
The alleged murder of the young man has generated commotion among local residents, with several friends and acquaintances reacting to what happened on social networks.
These people described the young man as a good person who was loved by his family, which is why they have demanded that the full weight of justice fall on those responsible for the unfortunate event.
Family and friends published in several posts that they do not lose hope that the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) will do their job and find the people who committed the alleged murder, so that they are brought before the law.
Other Internet users could not help but point out the increase in violence that has been experienced in Cuba in recent months, stating that this has brought with it a lack of tranquility among citizens.
“Cuba is no longer a safe country for anyone. Violence abounds, it is very sad to hear the mother screaming in despair over the loss of her son. Even when?!”; “My God, Cuba really hurts every day, there is always a murder, a robbery, an accident. For God’s sake” and “My God, we are less safe every day. “We don’t know whether to go out on the streets or stay home,” were some of the comments.
For its part, the Castro government does everything possible to deny this increase in insecurity, attributing everything to the reach of social networks and the speed with which these types of events can be shared.
