Mexican authorities found the body of a citizen of Cuban origin on the side of the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway.
According to local media, the woman’s body was located during the early hours of last Saturday, February 24, at kilometer 174 of the aforementioned highway.
These media indicated that some passersby noticed the presence of the body, alerting the authorities.
The woman was wearing a red t-shirt and black sports pants with white stripes, and it was discovered that she was barefoot.
After arriving at the scene, police officers and the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office carried out the corresponding procedures before ordering the removal of the body and notifying the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and the Asunción Nochixtlán Prosecutor’s Office.
Shortly after, the authorities managed to identify the Cuban woman, thanks to an identification card found among her belongings.
The woman responded to the name of Virgin Mary TM, who was 62 years old and was passing through to the United States. While authorities confirmed that she was a Cuban woman, the province where she was originally from was not mentioned.
According to the Mexican press, the process has already begun to transfer the body to the municipal pantheon of Asunción Nochixtlán.
An autopsy carried out by the authorities provided conclusive evidence that the cause of death was bronchoaspiration, that is, the accidental passage of solid or liquid food into the respiratory tract.
