Shareholders have filed a lawsuit against Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk over claims they exaggerated the effectiveness and safety of its electric cars’ autopilot and self-driving technologies, Reuters reported.
In a class-action lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco, shareholders allege Tesla misled them for four years with false and misleading statements that hid how its technology, suspected of being a possible cause of multiple fatalities crashes, “create a serious risk of accidents and injuries”.
A day earlier, it became clear that Tesla’s electric car plant near Berlin is already producing 4,000 cars a week.
The company, majority-owned by entrepreneur Elon Musk, plans to increase weekly output at its plant near Berlin to 4,000 electric vehicles starting the week of March 13 and to 5,000 by the end of June.
It achieved production of 2,000 electric cars per week in October last year, and increased it to 3,000 in December, Reuters recalls.
