The outgoing chairman of the BSP, Cornelia Ninova, has been expelled from the party. This became clear after the National Council of Socialists.
Ivan Chenchev, Georgi Svilenski and Krum Donchev were also excluded.
There were 105 votes “for”, 16 votes “against” and 4 “abstentions” for the exclusion of Ninova.
Earlier, the Socialists gathered at the National Council to discuss the party’s preparations for the elections on October 27, as well as to answer the question of whether the BSP will appear in a coalition or independently.
A dispute arose between the temporary leadership of the party in the person of Atanas Zafirov and the resigned chairman Kornelia Ninova as to who has the right to register the BSP for participation in the upcoming elections.
On the one hand, the temporary leadership is of the opinion that it is them because they were legitimately elected by the governing bodies of the party.
However, according to Cornelia Ninova, she is the one who should give the power of attorney. She already gave it to Georgi Svilenski and Ivan Chenchev.
Her motive is that she has not yet been removed by the court as a resigned chairman, and that is precisely why she must represent the party before the CEC.
We remind you that earlier posters on the facade of the headquarters against Cornelia Ninova were torn by her sympathizers despite the intervention of the building’s security. In front of the entrance there was tension, shoving and insulting chants.
The members of the National Council of the BSP gathered at “Positano” 20 and to decide what punishment should be imposed on the resigned former leader of the party, Cornelia Ninova.
The two most severe measures of impact – a one-year punishment and exclusion – were discussed.
According to the current leadership of the BSP, the former leader is creating a legal case surrounding the legitimacy of the party’s leadership, endangering their participation in the upcoming elections in October, as well as in violation of the BSP statute.
Kornelia Ninova herself wrote a post on social networks a few days ago, in which she says that today her exclusion will be prepared as a point in the plenum, as well as that of Svilenski and Chenchev. For this reason, he called on all socialists to come to the council.
