A Missouri man convicted of murdering his girlfriend and her three young children was executed by lethal injection, the Associated Press reported.
Raheem Taylor, 58, is the third Missouri inmate executed since November at the state prison in Bonne Terre. It was the fifth execution in the country this year, after one in Missouri, two in Texas and one in Oklahoma. They were all carried out by lethal injection.
After being shot with 5 grams of pentobarbital, Taylor took five or six deep breaths before he stopped moving. In his latest statement, Taylor said Muslims do not die, but “live forever in the hearts of our loved ones and friends”.
“Death is not your enemy, it is your destiny. Look forward to meeting it. Peace!” the statement read.
Taylor, whose first name was previously Leonard, has long claimed he was in California when Angela Rowe, her 10-year-old daughter Alexus Conley, 6-year-old Acreya Conley and 5-year-old son Tyreese were killed in 2004 Conley.
