SANTA FE.– The national government is evaluating the possibility of including the Covid-19 vaccine in the official calendar. “It would be for certain groups”said the Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, during a visit to this capital.
The official, who participated in various activities in this city, stated that “there are no expired doses” and asked the population to reinforcements are applied.
Before a consultation, Vizzotti admitted that the national health portfolio, through the National Immunization Commission, is evaluating whether the vaccine against the coronavirus will be incorporated into the official calendar, but in some groups in particular, about which he did not give details.
He also ruled out that there are expired doses and defended the safety of all the vaccines that were developed to deal with the virus that caused the pandemic, at the beginning of 2020.
“The national vaccination commission will decide if it is incorporated into the calendar for certain groups and how often ”explained the minister, while recommending that reinforcements be applied every four months because “the pandemic as such -in the sense of the most critical stages- has already passed and that was thanks to vaccination and because many already had the infection” .
The following consultation referred to the periodicity in which the doses against Covid-19 must be administered. In this sense, Vizzotti indicated that “what we know is that after the fourth month the antibodies begin to drop, that is why reinforcements are important, thinking of March, April, when the cold returns and there are more viruses, a reinforcement must be done vaccination, against Covid, against influenza and against pneumococcus, to minimize the impact ”.
He mentioned that “113 million doses of the 120 million received have already been applied” and stated that the good adherence of Argentines to the campaign is the reason “why we are in this more favorable epidemiological situation”, as defined by .
When asked about the safety of the vaccines developed by different laboratories, Vizzotti pointed out: “Argentina has had a National Vaccine Commission since 2011. Safety is a fundamental fact for laboratories, for regulatory agencies; Throughout the world, the first thing that is looked at to authorize a clinical trial is the safety of vaccines in phase 1. If it is not safe, no progress is made. In phase 2, 3, and 4, safety continues to be evaluated. And all effects attributable to inoculation are reported, and published, from before the pandemic and during the pandemic. There are all the reported events related to vaccination and the very favorable balance is shown towards the benefit that vaccines have ”.
One of the reasons for the visit of the national minister to Santa Fe was related to the development of the National Cancer Institute, which began operating in the old Iturraspe Hospital, in front of the Unión club stadium, where the new virus tests will be carried out. of human papilloma (HPV).
