The National Immunization Commission of the Ministry of Health is evaluating whether the possibility of incorporating the Covid vaccine into the official calendar.
“It is being analyzed whether to incorporate it into the calendar for certain groups and how often,” acknowledged yesterday the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, who urged completion of the vaccination schemes and denied that vaccines have expired, as reported by some media.
“There is no dose of expired vaccine,” Vizzotti said at a press conference held in the city of Paraná, where he attributed the misinformation about the expiration date of the vaccines to the confusion of a journalist.
“I appreciate the question because the journalist who made the note did not understand what the dynamics of vaccination are like. The request for public information was in November and since there were vaccines that expired on January 18, he calculated that a million-odd vaccines had expired that day, ”said the national official.
“Since December 1, when the number of cases increased, the distribution of vaccines multiplied by ten and the application increased by at least five, and in some provinces even more,” explained the Minister of Health when commenting on the destination that they had those supposedly expired doses.
In the city of Paraná, the minister stressed that this new situation regarding Covid was achieved “thanks to vaccination, the enormous effort on the part of the provinces and the Nation and health workers.”
“Keep taking care of yourself”
“There is a huge percentage of the population vaccinated and people who have already had contact with the virus and that generates immunity, but it does not mean that the virus has passed or that you have immunity for life, so you have to continue taking care of yourself.”
“With more than 113 million doses applied, and 1.5 million third-party reinforcements, new cases do not translate into serious hospitalizations and deaths,” he completed, thanks to the fact that the vaccine “minimizes the risk.”
Even so, he confirmed that in the winter respiratory viruses will begin to circulate and “people who have not been vaccinated need to go to get vaccinated,” mainly to advance “people who have risk conditions.”
In Paraná, Minister Vizzotti participated in an inter-ministerial meeting at the Paraná Provincial Convention Center (CPC), where she delivered 14 ambulances and then toured different works in which the Nation made contributions.
Among them, Vizzotti visited the Provincial Epidemiology Laboratory, which entered the last stage of construction and will be inaugurated between next March and April.
The minister toured the Provincial Vaccine Depository, which “after a long time and enormous work is almost ready to start using.”
