Lane distribution
The new bridge, with three lanes, will be fully enabled for all types of transportation, including heavy cargo.
The direction of circulation will be from north to south. Meanwhile, on the modular bridge, two lanes will be assigned exclusively for light transportation, people and single-axle trucks, heading from south to north.
However, heavy goods vehicles coming from the south will have to find alternative routes.
This measure of keeping the modular structure in operation will continue until the first weeks of January 2024.
Work in 2024 on the bridge on the route to the Pacific
Subsequently, Covial plans to report on the dismantling of the modular crossing and the start of construction of the second bridge.
This strategic planning seeks to ensure a smooth transition towards a more modern and efficient infrastructure.
The opening of the new structure and the operational continuity of the modular passage reflect Covial’s commitment to safe and efficient mobility.
This aims to provide adequate options for the different transportation needs on one of the country’s main roads.
Other works
Covial also reported that the slope protection work is progressing on the lanes towards the Capital City at Km. 11.9 of the Villalobos slope, Villa Nueva.
