Good news for the people of Plovdiv. The construction works on the Modar-Tsarevets subway are progressing at a serious pace, as the machines have already revealed the breakthrough, which was built years ago by NRIC. Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov noted that thanks to the underground activities carried out by NRIC in 2014, the local administration has saved BGN 3 million and time. Otherwise, a bypass connection had to be built and the site delayed.

The builders from “Dragiev and Co” are rapidly removing the soil from the trench under the rails. 7,000 cubic meters have already been removed, it became clear during the inspection of Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov and his deputy Plamen Raichev.

Another 15,000 cubic meters are to be exported. “This means that more than 4,000 trucks have to get out of here and go to the landfill, where the soil will be deposited. The good thing is that the soil is good and can be used for reclamation, “explained Plamen Raichev. He explained that the Modar-Tsarevets connection will have two lanes, 7.50 meters wide, two lanes each, with a dividing strip in the middle and sidewalks 2.30 meters on both sides.

“Below the railway line, the lanes will be separated by a wall,” Raichev added. Dragiev & Co. clarified that the slope when descending below the railway line will be 6 degrees.

“I am just happy with what I see. The builders are not working on schedule, but significantly ahead of it. They also did an excellent job with the reconstruction of Hristo Botev and Koprivshtitsa boulevards.

Of course, it is very important to finish the work on the Southern bypass collector in time, part of which will pass on this route and is currently in the design stage. This site is related to the construction of the collector, but I am sure that colleagues will do what is necessary to complete the connection between the regions “South” and “West” in time, said Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov.

The deadline for completing the breakthrough is the end of 2023, but due to the rapid pace of work, it can be completed by the fall of 2022. The funds for the connection between the two regions “South” and “West” are provided by the 40 million loan.
