The composition dates back to the mid to late 1860s and consists of seven movements for a string trio of approximately 12 minutes in length, she told on Thursday, Leipzig City Library.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who lived between 1756 and 1791, was a distinguished child and began making music at a young age under the tutelage of his father. He composed more than 600 songs in his lifetime.

History

The director of the library, Susanne Metzová, said that the newly discovered manuscript was not written by Mozart himself, but a transcription from around 1780.

The writing was part of Carl Ferdinand Becker’s collection and remained unnoticed in the archive for more than a century. After several years of research by an expert from Salzburg, it was concluded that it is a real work by the young Mozart.

Careful work is required to identify the work

Ulrich Leisinger, head of the research department at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, admitted that he had seen the manuscript once before when he was working in the Bach archive in Leipzig, but did not recognize it. like Mozart’s work at the time. “Now we were lucky that my work activities brought me back to Mozart,” he said.

He also pointed out that care must be taken because there are many compositions attributed to Mozart. Identifying a work as genuine writing requires careful work.

The manuscript is written in dark brown ink on medium white handmade paper and the individual parts are individually bound. The sheet music says “Mozart”, but in a way that the composer stopped using in later years. In addition, the style of the writing corresponds to the period before it became famous, which convinced Leisinger that it was the work of early teenagers.

It is listed under the name in the catalog Very little night music a So referring to the famous Mozart Little night musicie to Serenade No. 13 for string quartet and double bass in G major from 1787.

The piece was performed by a string trio on Thursday as part of the performance of the new edition of Köchel’s catalog in Mozart’s hometown of Salzburg. He will make his first appearance in Germany at a half-hour concert this Saturday at the Leipzig Opera.
