They discover what is the “gelatinous substance” seen on the far side of the Moon

What happened?

A group of researchers chinese He discovered that it is a strange gelatinous-looking substance from the Moon, first sighted in 2019 in the farthest part of the natural satellite.

This brilliant substance was found por the Chinese moon robot Yutu-2 at the end of July 2019, being an astronomical event due to its strange texture, inserted in the middle of a rocky and dusty satellite.

Results of the study

According to the analysis of the images studied here in the earth, This gelatinous-looking substance is melted rock, probably from the heat of a meteorite impact.

“The Chang’e-4 rover discovered a dark green impact melt gap and bright in a crater during its journey on the Von Kármán crater floor within the Aitken South Pole (SPA) basin at the lunar extreme, “the researchers write in their job.

“It was formed by the welding, cementing and impact agglutination of the regolith (dust and gravel from the rubble) and the lunar gap,” the scientists also point out.

According to the same analysis, the regolith would be mainly composed of plagioclase (about 45%), pyroxene (7%) and olivine (6%), abundant materials on the moon.

Meanwhile, the glassy substance that is also seen in the photograph was more difficult to analyze, being able to distinguish only plagioclase, in approximately 38%.

This is not very different from the regolith that surrounds it, so the researchers suggest that the composition of both is similar. As for the measurements, the scientists determined that it measures approximately 52 by 16 centimeters.
