Archaeologists have discovered 301 ancient tombs in eastern China, the Xinhua agency reported this Monday.
The necropolis was found in the city of Jinan, in the eastern province of Shandong. The burials date back to different eras in Chinese history, ranging from the Warring States period (475-221 BC) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
In the same area, archaeologists also found several ancient ovens, eight wells and about 850 pieces, including clay pots, ceramic plates and coins.
According to the Jinan Institute of Archaeology, the tombs are arranged in an orderly manner.
The scientists also noted that tomb complexes belonging to the Warring States period until the Wei and Jin dynasties (220-420) were probably in use for hundreds of years, providing important material for their research.
