That the universal filling of gas cylinders is feasible in the country implies the reform of the Regulatory Law of the Deposit, Transportation and Distribution of Petroleum Products that was ruled by the Economy Commission of the Legislative Assembly.
According to pro-government legislators, the objective of the reform is to guarantee “the universal access of consumers to liquefied gas, because monopoly and privileged practices in the sale of cylinders will be avoided.”
This despite the fact that last week representatives of the gas distribution companies expressed to the deputies that the proposal represents a risk since the traceability of knowing which distributor filled each cylinder would be lost.
In addition, the representatives of the companies mentioned that free filling does not represent an advantage for the consumer in terms of price, since this is already regulated and set by the Ministry of Economy.
According to the Directorate of Hydrocarbons in the country there are 3.2 million cylinders of propane gas.
