A significant amount of cigarettes were seized by Citizen Inspection personnel and police entities on Francisco Ramírez avenue in front of the Herminda Martín hospital.
The director of Citizen Security, Alejandra Martínez Jeldres, reported that inspectors from the municipal entity managed to take out of circulation a hundred boxes of products that were sold without any type of authorization.
Along with arresting a person, an undetermined amount of money was confiscated that was presumably related to the sale of the species on public roads.
During this week, he added, other similar procedures have been carried out during surveillance tours that are carried out permanently on city streets.
Alejandra Martínez indicated that the sale of medicines, cigarettes and various species whose origin is unknown has been detected in the hospital area.
“People who buy cigarettes or medicines on public roads should understand that these goods probably have not gone through sanitary inspections and can cause adverse health effects.”
Apparently, those who are engaged in the illegal trade of different types of merchandise have been moving towards places with a high number of people as a result of intensive inspection in the center of the city, especially in the four avenues and the Market.
The Security Director stressed that “we hope that the numerous tours that are carried out daily in the center as well as the new tele-surveillance cameras that will be installed will contribute to reducing crime and incivility and illegal trade.”
