In the municipalities of the Sierra Otomí-Tepehua, 300 cases of breast cancer were detected during 2021, nurse Flor Barranco warned.
According to the health professional, the authorities are carrying out an information campaign so that people can undergo medical check-ups and other actions to prevent this disease.
For nurse Flor Barranco, there is a problem of “indifference” in the region, since women do not care about their health and go when the cancer has advanced.
“It is difficult to have the confidence of citizens, in part because the issues are sensitive, but as professionals we must continue to seek strategies that allow us to bring information closer to more and more communities,” he said.
He admitted that in the Otomí-Tepehua hospitals the quality and ethics of medical care have been questioned by the residents, for which he asked for a vote of confidence, because, he said, there are personnel committed to serving citizens.
