They detained the “Red Pirate”, who threatened magistrates and politicians with e-mails

The police detained the man suspected of making threats against magistrates and politicians in e-mails signed by the “Red Pirate”, the Ministry of the Interior announced on Thursday evening.

Judge Vladislava Tsarigradska, Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel and ministers are among those threatened, the director of the GDBOP Chief Commissioner Yavor Serafimov announced two days ago.

“This is a series of threats made against a wide range of publicly known individuals. This has been happening for the last week or two. We believe that all these reports are coming from the same person. There is speculation as to who it is – it is known by an alias” The Red Pirate”. This is a Bulgarian citizen, with a nomadic lifestyle, who manages to access the emails of public figures. He also makes bomb threats against schools,” Serafimov said at the time.

According to him, it is a matter of a mentally unbalanced person who, “following the news, finds an option to make threats to these persons”.

According to bTV, the arrest took place at 8:30 p.m. near the Boyan cemetery in Sofia.

It is assumed that the detainee had previously threatened mayors, policemen and businessmen from Sliven, where he comes from.

For months they have been receiving threats in their email, most of them signed by the “Red Pirate”. The threats date back to August 2023, involving over 10 individuals.

The threats are related to killing and causing bodily harm. The perpetrator himself claims in some of the emails that he graduated with honors from a local Sliven high school.

The police have recently established that the “Red Pirate” is the person who also threatened judge Vladislava Tsarigradska, the director of the SDVR and ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel and Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov.

“The information presented by the director of the GDBOP is inconclusive. From the statement it appears that the suspect “Red Pirate” has not yet been identified, detained and interrogated. It follows that even this “mentally unbalanced” person “with a wandering lifestyle” is the actual sender of the electronic messages, this does not mean that it is not a case of complicated complicit criminal activity,” Judge Vladislava Tsarigradska commented on Tuesday on Facebook.

The magistrate pointed out that this was clearly a systematic perpetrator, causing confusion and panic, against whom adequate action had not been taken. According to Tsarigradska, there is no answer to the question of whether he is carrying out someone else’s order.

“I would like to point out that there is no information as to whether the first warning to me, related to my public appearances and public speaking about the mafia’s control of magistrates, is being checked,” Tsarigradska points out.

She recalls that she was told that the first threat before her TV appearance on BTV, in which she told details about Martin Bojanov – the Notary Public’s attacks on her, came from the director of the Public Communication Directorate under the Chief Prosecutor Veselin Ivanov. He denied that this was true.

“Could the Red Pirate have fabricated such a misleading message? Does the deranged drifter have the mental fitness and ability to gradate threats after disobeying the former? Attributing crimes of high public interest to people with mental disorders is an old trick in the Soviet and post-Soviet countries,” Tsarigradska emphasized.
