Tear apart a € 300,000 McLaren 620R, a Porsche 911 Carrera S or a Bentley Continental Flying Spur. This is what customs officials in some countries are prepared to do to punish their owners.
In the Philippines, people don’t mess around with illegally imported cars. The customs services have just assembled an impressive collection of high-prestige vehicles, whose owners had visibly cheated at the time of their purchase. A McLaren 620R, a Porsche 911 Carrera S, a Bentley Continental Flying Spur of the previous generation or a Lotus Elise are among the catches.
And what to do with these seized cars? Simply destroy them with a backhoe. Customs, who wanted to make this destruction an example, did not hesitate to shred a brand new McLaren 620R with a bucket.
Why not resell them?
Beyond the symbolism of the operation, we still wonder if it would not have been better to simply confiscate and resell the cars.
