They deprogram “The Rebel Empress” for imputation of actor

Austrian public television announced on Sunday that it was deprogramming the fictions featuring Florian Teichtmeister, one of the actors in “the rebel empress“, in contention for the Oscar, after admitting that he had pedopornographic material.

“The ORF refrains with immediate effect from producing and disseminating works with Florian Teichtmeister”, such as “Comisario Rex” or “Tatort”, according to a statement on the audiovisual group’s website.

In “the rebel empress“, which presents a feminist version of Sissi, Teichtmeister, 43, plays Emperor Franz Joseph.

The film, which was presented in Cannes, represents Austria in the category of best foreign film at the next Oscars.

On Friday, the actor’s lawyer announced to the press his imputation, which the Vienna public prosecutor’s office later confirmed. His client is scheduled to plead guilty and will stand trial on February 8.

He is accused of possessing a large amount of pedopornographic material, at least between February 2008 and August 2021. He could be sentenced to two years in prison.

According to the ORF, the Cineplexx theater chain, which manages 400 theaters in 12 countries, withdrew the film from the billboard.

The Austrian national theater Burgtheater, where Teichtmeister is associated, announced his dismissal with immediate effect.
